In the heart of Dresden’s city centre, this project shows how existing buildings can be extended upward even under tight spatial constraints. The measure adds a second upper floor with a pent roof to a rear building that already had a ground floor and first upper floor. Around 620 BRIQs were used across roughly 75 m² of gross floor area.

The micro-modular TRIQBRIQ system is ideally suited to exactly these conditions: the compact building elements allow for short distances on site, require little heavy equipment, and can be installed even where conventional construction methods reach their limits due to restricted space.

The project also attracted public attention. Kassem Taher Saleh visited the construction site in his capacity as a member of the German Bundestag, accompanied by an MDR camera team. The Sächsische Zeitung newspaper also reported on the project. The additional storey illustrates the potential of conversion and densification: it creates additional living space on existing building stock without sealing any new land.
