With the project in Fulda, Netto Marken-Discount is using the TRIQBRIQ system for a store extension for the first time, trialling a new form of circular construction in German food retail. Around 2,600 BRIQs made from industrial wood, salvage wood, and reclaimed wood were used for the extension. This will permanently store around 57.5 tonnes of CO₂.

The project shows the potential of building onto and extending existing buildings in a targeted way – especially in an industry where construction work often has to take place during ongoing operations. At the same time, it demonstrates that retail, too, can be an important lever for the building transition.

Netto already relies on measures such as photovoltaics, green roofs, heat pumps, and charging infrastructure in many of its stores. The use of the TRIQBRIQ system complements this sustainability strategy and makes the extension in Fulda an important pilot project for sustainable construction in retail.
