Creating more space without sealing new land: in Ansbach-Schalkhausen, the former town hall was extended by an additional storey as part of a comprehensive renovation. The existing building comprises a ground floor and a first upper floor with a total of around 360 m² of living space. Since the existing gable roof could not be economically converted, it was dismantled in two construction phases and replaced with an additional storey built using the TRIQBRIQ system. This created two new building sections with flat roofs on either side of the stairwell.

After a ring beam was poured in concrete, the TRIQBRIQ walls were assembled quickly in both construction phases. The effective assembly time was just two days per roof half. Two carpenters coordinated the work on site, supported by two additional helpers. The project illustrates how efficiently the modular solid wood system can be used for additional storeys on existing buildings. A particular advantage was the simple assembly logic, which allowed even helpers without specialist prior knowledge to be well integrated into the construction process.

For the client, the decision in favour of TRIQBRIQ was shaped both professionally and personally. Besides his long-standing connection to wood as a material, he was particularly convinced by the structure of the BRIQs, the solid wood construction with its positive properties for indoor climate, and the practical feasibility of the system. It is precisely this interplay of material-appropriate construction, clear assembly logic, and efficient execution that makes the extension in Ansbach-Schalkhausen special.
