Vonovia and the Fraunhofer Alliance hosted the kick-off conference “Perspectives on the Future of Building” in Berlin, bringing together representatives from politics, science and the construction industry, including our Head of PR Lewin Fricke. Keynote speeches addressed lifecycle thinking, grey emissions and the growing importance of health topics in construction. Four workshops explored circular economy, renewable resources, supply chains and building material production.
At the invitation of Umwelttechnik BW GmbH, our Head of PR Lewin Fricke joined a two-day design thinking workshop on resource-conserving building materials at the Impact Hub Stuttgart. Together with representatives from building materials manufacturers, municipalities and research institutions, participants mapped the entire construction process to identify where circular economy principles could succeed or fail. The workshop produced concrete solution concepts for making circular building materials work in real projects.
In September 2021, TRIQBRIQ took part in two Heuer Dialog GmbH events to present our innovation and our vision for climate-neutral construction. At the Quartier Annual Congress in Bielefeld, Head of PR & PA Lewin Fricke introduced our pilot project and the patented TRIQBRIQ timber construction system. A few days later, CEO Max Wörner joined a high-profile panel discussion on innovative building materials in Stuttgart.
TRIQ joined a coalition of sustainable construction start-ups calling for a fundamental shift in German housing and building policy. The initiative, backed by Architects for Future and the BDA, demands faster approval processes and stronger incentives for circular, ecological construction.
“There are a lot of necessary tasks to manage a change towards more sustainability in the construction sector and we see ourselves as one of the solutions,” says Max Wörner, CEO of TRIQ GmbH, in an interview with Stylepark Magazine.
Around 250 million tons of construction waste are generated in Germany each year, about 60% of the national waste volume. At a panel discussion, TRIQBRIQ CEO Max Wörner joined members of the Bundestag and industry experts to call for faster progress on circular construction. Together, the participants agreed: fundamental change in the construction sector cannot wait any longer.
“An innovative idea that combines the advantages of robotics and timber construction,” said Udo Cordts-Sanzenbacher, Managing Director of BNP Paribas Real Estate, in an online article about TRIQ GmbH’s sustainable solid wood construction system.
The sustainable timber construction system TRIQBRIQ is now officially part of the IBA’27 network in the Stuttgart region. The patented solid wood building system supports the exhibition’s climate and circular-economy goals.
“City of Tree Houses”: Berlin is planning the largest timber construction quarter in the world – TRIQBRIQ is being discussed as a potential building material. The city of the future is being built in the middle of Berlin on the site of the old Berlin-Tegel Airport. On 500 hectares – in addition to a research and industrial park and a large landscape area – more than 5000 apartments are planned, all sustainable, innovative, and social. According to the managing director of Tegel Projekt GmbH, Prof. Dr. Philipp Bouteiller, the fact that the project “relies on wood and the circular economy” makes it a special one. In plain language, this means that the wood is built in such a way that it can be reused after deconstruction. This creates efficient and sustainable material cycles that ensure a considerable saving of building materials. In order to fully exploit the potential of various timber construction methods in the planned Schuhmacher Quartier, Tegel Projekt GmbH has developed the idea of a “Bauhütte 4.0” (Construction Hut 4.0), where research, testing, and prefabrication will take place right next to the planned timber construction quarter. The aim – following the basic idea of the Bauhaus movement – is to bring together clever, experienced, and creative minds to scale timber construction to an industrial level and make it 20 to 25 percent more cost-effective than conventional construction from as early as the 2nd construction phase.
