With the commissioning of a new, fully automated production line, TRIQBRIQ AG has reached a decisive milestone on the path to industrial scaling of its timber construction system. The plant was presented to the public for the first time on June 24, 2026, at a launch event at the TRIQBRIQ plant in Tübingen. It marks the transition from craft-based manufacturing to robot-supported series production – and creates the technological foundation for the company’s further international expansion.
Full automation as the foundation for global growth
The new production line enables, for the first time, fully automated manufacturing of the micro-modular timber blocks – known as BRIQs. The roughly 25-meter-long plant is divided into four production cells, in which a total of five KUKA robots work together. At full capacity, it reaches an output of up to 100,000 BRIQs per year. Depending on the component type, the cycle time ranges from 1 minute 30 seconds to 3 minutes 20 seconds.
A key feature of the plant is its high degree of autonomy: it can run for around an hour without a permanent operator present. The operator’s task is limited to loading raw material and removing the finished, palletized goods. The plant’s layout makes the technology particularly attractive for decentralized production sites – a central element of the TRIQBRIQ business model.
The investment cost for the plant, developed by VKE GmbH, is around 1,850,000 to 2,000,000 euros (total cost including commissioning). TRIQBRIQ licenses the technology to international partners and is targeting, in particular, sawmill operators and companies with experience in international building materials distribution.
Decentralized, scalable, international
TRIQBRIQ’s growth model follows two clearly distinct paths: national and international.
In the German market, TRIQBRIQ is looking for partner companies that will install the new production plant on their own premises and manufacture BRIQs on TRIQBRIQ’s behalf. TRIQBRIQ guarantees these partners – such as sawmills with existing access to timber and production space – secured off-take of the manufactured BRIQs and handles sales and project business.
Internationally, on the other hand, TRIQBRIQ relies on independently responsible licensees: they produce and distribute BRIQs in their respective markets under TRIQBRIQ license entirely on their own. In both models, the new plant is the technological foundation: compact, largely capable of autonomous operation, and designed to meet the requirements of regional production sites.
International expansion is progressing rapidly:
- Austria: TRIQBRIQ AT GmbH founded. Two plants already in the project pipeline, two more confirmed for the coming year.
- Sweden: TRIQBRIQ Sweden GmbH founded, discussions with initial partners underway.
- Portugal: sales network being built, first demonstration building in planning.
- Switzerland: pilot project underway, start of production in planning.
- USA: expansion in preparation, initial discussions with potential partners underway.
High-ranking voices from politics and business
The commissioning was accompanied by a high-profile launch event at the Tübingen plant, attended by around 300 guests from politics, business, finance, and media. Theresa Schopper, Minister for Regional Development and Housing of Baden-Württemberg, discussed in an on-stage conversation the significance of innovative timber construction systems for the state’s housing and climate policy. Boris Palmer, Mayor of the City of Tübingen, provided municipal perspectives in his keynote on the role of sustainable construction systems in urban development.
In the subsequent panel “Milestone Full Automation: Baden-Württemberg Construction Innovation on a Growth Course”, the discussion featured Sun Jensch (Managing Director, Coalition for Timber Construction, moderator), Julia Möbus (Managing Director, German Sawmill and Timber Industry Association), Dr. Christian Bock (Managing Director, Landwirtschaftliche Rentenbank), Günther Seher (Technical Division Head, Züblin Stuttgart), and Maximilian Wörner (Executive Board Member, TRIQBRIQ AG).
New investment platform
As part of the event, TRIQBRIQ also launched a new investment platform, through which direct participation in TRIQBRIQ AG becomes accessible with a low entry threshold. The platform is aimed at investors interested in sustainable construction and international growth potential.
